We produced only three barrels of this speical wine. It is rare not only because of the scarce bottles produced, but they unique combination of growing location at the top of Mt. Veeder in Napa Valley and the use of the obscure grape varietal, Counoise (pronounced "Coon-wahz"). This special blend is a mountain-top version of a French Chateauneuf-du-Pape blend.
It is 56% Mouvedre, 32% Syrah, 10% beautiful, magical Counoise, and 2% Grenache. Our version of Counoise is a depp purple-red with intense flavors of anise, strawberries, and blueberries. It has aromas of vanilla bean and smoked bacon intermingled with ripe blackberry jam. 22 months of French oak barrel aging contribute to its velvety texture and opulently long finish. We suggest decanting this wine for 20 minutes prior to serving. It is ready to drink now, but can be cellared and enjoyed until 2026 if you get your hands on some extra bottles.
